This full-day trip takes you to the Cape Coast Castle, which used to be the seat of the British colonial government until 1877. This castle also played a major role in the Trans Atlantic slave trade. Also, visit the Kakum National Park for an exciting walk on the canopy walkway.
Depart from Accra to Cape Coast in the Central Region and then further north of Cape Coast to the Kakum National Park. The park is a tropical rainforest in the heart of the Attandaso reserve, for an adventurous and breathtaking walk on the ‘Canopy Walkway’. It is composed of 350 meters of suspended bridge and six platforms at a height of 60 meters (100ft). Then continue to visit the Cape Coast Castle built in 1667 by the Swedes and later taken over by the British. This was used during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade as a holding point for captives. Visit the West African Historical Museum. The guide will conduct you to the slave quarters and Negotiation Hall where captives were bargained for and sold. Return to Accra in the late afternoon.
